The Fortress of Chipude is a roque produced by the accumulation of viscous lava around the same emission duct. As a feature, it has a profile that has a plateau configuration, with very steep walls and large cracks produced by the cooling of the laundry.

If we look at its sides they are practically vertical, thanks to this we can find several endemic species of flora of the walls that are threatened, as is the example of the evergreen or the centaurea.

This place has a practically cylindrical shape, if we want to access the top we have to know that there is only a narrow path that goes between the rocks, the top reaches 1240 meters of altitude, which makes it a perfect refuge. According to the stories, this summit was used as a refuge for the islanders themselves, but that was not their only utility since this fortress acquired a variety of functions, served from the temporary settlement of a community of shepherds, of strength when there was some kind of danger and it is even believed that it was considered a sacred territory in ancient times.
